Abstract

The article analyzes the affinities between Machiavelli’s texts and Celsus’s Discourse of truth quoted by Origen in his Contra Celsum. The analysis concludes that there is no real evidence of a textual dependence of Machiavelli from Celsus but a constellation of relevant conceptual affinities.
