Philosophy in recent decades has been increasingly concerned with the climate issue. Nevertheless, the debate would still seem to lack a shared characterization of its fundamental concepts. The paper provides a reconstruction of the major theories regarding the concept of environment and, in its last section, seeks to outline an original proposal, in which environment, territory and landscape are assumed to be the core concepts for a transcendental philosophy of ecology.
